Teams feel the need for new energy and focus and/or get stuck and/or falter for many reasons and so my first step in working with teams is to determine what type(s) of professional services are needed.
Team Coaching
Teams that are ready to develop greater focus, determine goals, and work actively to achieve those goals can benefit greatly from the clarifying and challenging questions of a professional coach. Having a coach who is not part of your system and its assumptions walking alongside of your team can result in powerful new insights and direction. The accountability inherent in accomplishing the work that your team commits to do between coaching sessions can lead to greater efficiency and productivity. Since your team's leader continues to lead during the coaching process (and not the coach), I recommend that the team leader participate in individual leadership coaching at the same time that your team is coached. Both team coaching and individual leadership coaching may occur through technology, via telephone, or it may be possible for me to travel to your site.
Coached Retreats
Sometimes teams find it helpful to get away from their usual setting and responsibilities in order to focus more fully on the work of coaching in a location that you have made arrangements to visit. I enjoy opportunities to provide team coaching in a retreat setting. Beforehand I work closely with your planning team to gain clarity about what you want/need to focus on, to develop the retreat schedule and to coordinate logistics. A coached retreat package includes one follow-up coaching session, often via technology or conference call, after your team has had an opportunity to start work on the action commitments you made at the end of the retreat.
Conflict Resolution
Teams experiencing significant conflict may seek coaching but require conflict resolution services before effective team coaching can begin. If this is the case, a coaching agreement could be explored after our work of conflict resolution has been completed.
Team Facilitation
Sometimes a team and its leader decide that, in the absence of significant conflict but in the presence of marked differences of opinion, your team could benefit from one or more sessions with an experienced outside facilitator. I offer this service alone or in sequence with coaching.
Contact me to explore which approach(es) would be most useful to help your team move to the next level of functioning and productivity.
